Evaluation of Poll Results

To find out about my target market and what they would like to see on my music magazine, I put together a questionnaire. I asked people to visit my blog and answer the questions which I can now evaluate and use to put towards any old or new ideas.

How old are you?

Most of the people who answered my questionnaire were 17 0r over the age of 19. This is good feedback towards my magazine as my target market is aimed towards people, mainly young females aged 15-29 so the people who answered my questionnaire will be the age that the magazine is aimed at and hopefully my magazine will now produce exactly what my target market wants.

What is your gender?

80% of people who answered my questionnaire were female. This helps with my magazine as my target market is mainly aimed towards females.

Do you have any hobbies? If you so what hobbies?

Here the number of voters dropped by about 12 people. This may be because not all of my voters have hobbies. However the most popular hobbies are playing an instrument and dancing. This is good as it shows my target market are musical and will therefore want to buy a music magazine.

What type of music do you like to listen to?

The people who answered this question I have found prefer pop, rock and RnB. The bad thing about these results is that the type of music that people listen to the least is country music which is what my magazine is based on however this could be a good thing as my magazine will get more people involved with country music and will hopefully become a more popular genre of music for people to listen to.

When do you listen most to music?

These results show that most people who took part in my questionnaire listen to music on their iPod. This contributes to my magazine as I could use the fact that people listen to their iPods as part of an advertisement for a competition to win an iPod to draw people in.

What colour theme do you think would be suitable for a country music magazine?

Most people who voted on this question said that they would prefer my magazine's colour theme to be green, brown and white. This is good feedback for my magazine as I feel that those are the colours that would represent my country music magazine the most.

What do you dislike most about music magazines?

From this question I can see that most people dislike adverts the most when reading a magazine. Now I know what my audience dislikes the most I won't put as many adverts in my own magazine.

Who are your favourite artists?

From the results I can see that the top four most popular artists are P!nk, Cheryl Cole, JLS, and Taylor Swift. This is good feedback from my audience as two out of the top four artists are associated with country music and are artists that are likely to be featured in a country music magazine.

How often do you buy magazines?

From these results I can see that people only buy magazines now and again (53% of voters). This is a good fact to know as in my magazine I can try to use advertisments for upcoming features to draw the reader in and make them want to buy my magazine each month.

What type of magazines do you usually buy?

These results show that people buy mostly celebrity gossip magazines (33% of voters). This is helpful to me as I can include gossip about the artists featured in magazine, which will then have a mix of music and celebrity gossip and then hopefully draw in my audience.

What features make you want to buy a magazine?

This question shows that people mostly buy magazine for the pictures (36% of voters), closely followed by articles (20%). By knowing this it will help me with my magazine as I will now think about including lots of pictures and a few articles to draw my target market in.

How much would you usually pay for a magazine?

This poll shows that most people are willing to pay around £3 for a magazine (43% of voters) closely followed by £2 (37% of voters). By knowing this I can assign a price to my magazine of around £3, which won't be too cheap or too expensive for my target market. Baring in mind that the target market are young females aged 15-29 who may be at university and will therefore not have a lot of money.
